How to browse or search the HPAA forums

When you join the HPAA, you start out as an email-only member of the appropriate forums -- and you receive emails of the discussions on those forums. (The name of the originating forum is given in the subject line of each email -- "HPAA Benefits" "HPAA Finance" "HPAA Transition" "HPAA Jobs" "HPAA TechTalk")

In order to browse or search past forum discussions, you need a Yahoo account. We can't create a Yahoo account for you -- you must do it yourself. It takes less than five minutes to set up, requires no personal information, and works with any email address.

Follow these steps:

1. Go to https://groups.yahoo.com/neo/memwiz

2. If you have a Yahoo account, log in. Otherwise, click "I can't access my account" then "I forgot my Yahoo ID" then "Next"

3. Enter your email address and you will see one of three messages:

  • "Yahoo ID Found." This means that there is a Yahoo account associated with that email address. Yahoo will send an email to that address. (If you don't see the confirmation emails in a few minutes, check your spam or junk folder. Gmail and other email services often treat administrative messages from Yahoo as spam. For Gmail, click "More" in the left-hand menu, then "Spam" to find the folder.)  The email will give your Yahoo ID. Go back to https://groups.yahoo.com/neo/memwiz and log into Yahoo. Yahoo's "Membership Wizard" will help you link your groups to your account.

  • "Your Yahoo account has been de-activated." This means that you are still a member of HPAA and still an email member of your forums. Create a new Yahoo account following our directions at www.hpalumni.org/yahoo_account.

  • "No matching alternate email address found." You need a Yahoo account to browse or search the HPAA forums. Click "Cancel." Create a new Yahoo account following our directions at www.hpalumni.org/yahoo_account.

4. Once you have a Yahoo account connected to your group memberships, go to the group in question. Enter your search into the box to the right of the "Yahoo Groups" logo at the top of the page. Once the initial search has been made, you can then click on the new, faint "Advanced Search" button that appears toward the right. Expect to try several times to get what you want.

Note: The HPAA has no control over the advertising that is displayed on Yahoo Groups -- and receives no revenue from it.
