December 7 is the national deadline to change your Medicare health or drug coverage for 2026.

Workaround if you can't buy the policy you want from AlightRHS.

A member has discovered that people with HPInc RRAs (Retiree Reimbursement Accounts) can file reimbursement claims via the Benefits Center website.

"Alight confirmed this is correct." --HPAA contact at HPInc Corporate Benefits

You can get RRA reimbursements for policies bought directly from an insurer (such as Mutual of Omaha or Regence) or from a health system (such as Kaiser or Harvard Pilgrim) or from a local independent agent (who may be more familiar with what works best in your area and be more skillful in constructing plan applications that get approved.)

However, this process requires extra effort on your part:

- Instead of working with an AlightRHS agent, you apply for the policy yourself.

- If asked detailed health questions, STOP! If an employer group health plan (including retiree or COBRA coverage) is ending, you have a "guaranteed issue" right -- i.e. without consideration of your current health ("medical underwriting") -- in every state. (This is confusing -- laws in certain states require guaranteed issue in additional situations.)  https://www.hpalumni.org/enroll-guaranteed-issue

- Instead of automatic reimbursement of the plans you bought from AlightRHS up to the amount available in your RRA account, you file monthly claims online.

How RRA reimbursement works

For your first year, the Benefits Center sets up a Retiree Reimbursement Account (RRA) with an AlightWorklife service called "Your Savings Account" (YSA). Every year, a subsidy is added to your RRA. (An RRA is separate from any other non-taxable accounts -- HSA, FSA, or RMSA -- you might have.)

If you buy from AlightRHS, you pay list price each month directly to the insurer. The insurer notifies Alight Retiree Health Solutions and pays them a commission. AlightRHS notifies YSA, which reimburses you every month via direct deposit until your RRA is empty. Any unused money in an RRA is carried over from year to year. There is a process to deal with declined claims. (The reimbursements show on your bank account as coming from "YSA.")

How to file an RRA claim.

The RRA uses the same claims process as for any other non-taxable accounts -- HSA, FSA, or RMSA -- you might have.

Sign in to your Benefits Center account. HPInc Benefits Center. https://www.myhpbenefits.com

(You may have to update your password -- or activate online access by entering some identifying information.)

The AlightWorklife site is a generic website used by hundreds of companies -- overlaid with a custom shell for our company.

As a result, the user interface is spotty. Just keep trying links and buttons.

However, do not use your browser's "back" arrow -- the site may log you off.

Click "Reimbursement Accounts" in the top row.

Click the white "Get reimbursed" button, which starts the sequence of screens to file a claim.

To see what you can claim against an RRA, click the "View all" link on the left, then the white "Eligible expenses" button.

Eligible Expenses:
- Medicare Part B premiums
- Medicare Part D premiums
- Premiums for dental insurance
- Premiums for medical insurance
- Premiums for prescription drug insurance
- Premiums for vision insurance
