Situation.

December 7 is the national deadline to change your Medicare health or drug coverage for 2026.

What HPInc and HPE are doing. Read the HPInc or HPE documents online. Group vs individual plans? Does this affect me? Enrollment Tips & Traps

Key Issues:

- New! Get RRA subsidy without purchasing from AlightRHS. A way to file reimbursement claims. RRA Without Buying from AlightRHS

- Keeping the same doctors, hospital, and other providers. How to Keep Providers

- Major decision -- and one-time opportunity -- Advantage vs. Medigap. Comparing Advantage and Medigap

- Trap: If asked detailed health questions, STOP! How to prevent "medical underwriting." Guaranteed Issue

- If your coverage is *not* subsidized, there are many ways to select and buy health policies -- aside from AlightRHS. Other Ways to Buy

- AlightRHS issues. A major bug, AARP/UHC plans, cost variations, more. AlightRHS Issues

- AlightRHS phone appointment -- before and during. What to expect. How to escalate. AlightRHS Appointment

- Drug coverage -- via Advantage or Part D. Tricky!  Medicare Drug Coverage

How to use your accounts:

- Benefits Center account. Check key settings, check status, research your RRA and coverage history: Your Benefits Center Account

- AlightRHS account. Activate your AlightRHS account, use it to shop for plans, and check status of plans bought from AlightRHS: Your AlightRHS Account

- How the Retiree Reimbursement Account (RRA) process works.  RRA Process

Use reliable *primary* sources of info:

- Enrollment documents. Mailed to most retirees in October. If you don't have a copy handy, download and read the enrollment materials:
HPInc -- "2026 Retiree Benefits Enrollment Guide" HPInc enrollment documents
HPE letter and FAQ -- "A new approach to HPE retiree medical benefits for 2026" HPE enrollment documents

- Use the official Medicare site for reliable information. Much information about Medicare is biased for business reasons. Links to excellent articles on the official Medicare site: Reliable Medicare Info

Problems that have been seen by HPAA members -- what to do:

- "Loss of Coverage" letter. You usually need to provide a "loss-of-coverage" or "disenrollment" letter from your previous health plan. Loss of Coverage Letter

- Current Medicare policy cancelled early. Medicare maintains a central "Enrollment Data Base" to ensure that someone cannot be enrolled in multiple plans for the same time period. (Except for a Medigap plan and a Drug plan.) Members report that if an incorrect starting date is entered when a new policy is set up by a sales agent, Medicare will notify the insurer to cancel any policy that covers the same time period. Contact the insurance sales agency that sold you the new plan.

- If you have a problem with a plan. As with any insurance sales agency... start with the agency that sold you the plan. For AlightRHS, they can escalate to a special group. The sales agency gets a monthly commission for servicing your account. AlightRHS Contacts

- Problem with AlightRHS? -- such as the assigned agent not getting back to you or having difficulties using the system -- you can ask to switch agents. (And the HPAA has an escalation path to AlightRHS management -- which will get results: Escalate AlightRHS Issues )

- Retiree Reimbursement Account problems. Contact your Benefits Center -- not AlightRHS -- if there are problems with the Retiree Reimbursement Account RRA subsidy. Benefits Centers
