The problem with dental insurance is that it isn't really insurance -- i.e. catastrophe protection. It is a maintenance-and-repair service contract that depends very much on the amount of maintenance that the customer performs themselves. Insurers price the plans low to get new customers, but restrict the amount of coverage available for the first few years after you join -- otherwise people join and then leave after their major work has been covered <smile>
