TechTalk Forum

Purpose: Post your request for technical help on personal IT to a knowledgeable, friendly community of engineers.

Emails from this forum have [HPAA TechTalk] in the subject line.

For privacy and security, the Yahoo Groups system doesn't let us add you to a forum -- you send an email to Yahoo's automated system.

To receive emails from this forum, follow these steps:

Step 1 -- Verify that your email address is on the HPAA membership list:

Send a note to hp_alumni_association-normal@yahoogroups.com (The subject and content do not matter -- no one sees your note.)

Yahoo's system will reply. (If you don't see the reply in a couple of minutes, check your spam folder. In Gmail, click "More" or "All Mail.")

a. If the reply is "Your subscription to hp_alumni_association has been changed" -- was individual !!!! --- your email address is on the HPAA email roster. Go to Step 2.

b. "Yahoo Groups Email Frequency Settings Change: Confirmation Needed" -- was no mail or digest --

your email address is on the HPAA email roster. Go to Step 2.

c. If the reply is "Unable to process your message" -- your current email address is not on the HPAA email roster. Either Reinstate your HPAA membership or Join the HPAA and you will be invited to join this forum.

Step 2 -- Join the email distribution list for this forum:

Send a note to hp_alumni_techtalk-subscribe@yahoogroups.com (Subject and content do not matter.)

Yahoo's system will reply. (If you don't see the reply in a couple of minutes, check your spam folder. In Gmail, click "More" or "All Mail.")

a. If the reply is "Request to join hp_alumni_techtalk" -- you may have shut off emails from this forum. Go to Step 3.

b. If the reply is "Please confirm your request to join hp_alumni_techtalk‏" -- send a blank reply. (Subject and content do not matter.) HPAA volunteers will check the member roster and approve your request -- normally within 48 hours. Yahoo will then send you an email. You are done.

Step 3 -- Ensure that you have emails turned on for this forum:

Send a note to hp_alumni_techtalk-normal@yahoogroups.com (Subject and content do not matter.)

Yahoo's system will reply "Your subscription to hp_alumni_techtalk has been changed". You are done.

If problems:

- Change to a single daily digest email or leave the Techtalk Forum
