Member advice: Payroll, W-2, final Earnings Statement, contacts.  (Mar 16, 2024)

From the independent association for former employees of HP and HPE -- and those in the process of leaving. Not officially endorsed or supported. Join HPAA at no charge

Stock options: You need your company W-2 if you exercised any options during the year -- even if you did not work for the company during that year. (You will also get a 1099-B from the broker. You need both documents for every option exercise.)

There are two ways to receive your annual W‑2 or final Earnings Statement -- either postal mail or online.

HPInc and HPE currently have their US payroll outsourced to ADP. ( https://www.adp.com/contact-us/customer-service.aspx )

Employers are required to either post W-2's online or put them in the mail by Jan 31.

1. Postal mail. If sent via postal mail, expect your W‑2 by mid-February. "If your employee asks for the Form W‑2, you must give your employee Copies B, C, and 2 within 30 days of the request or within 30 days of the final wage payment, whichever is later." -- IRS instructions to employers

- HPInc Payroll, W-2  HP US External HR Support  -- Select "HR Questions." (Members report that HPInc payroll records are kept for five years.)

- HPE Payroll, W-2  HPE US Former Employee Site  [Allow several minutes for page to load.] (Members report that HPInc payroll records are kept for five years -- presumably the same for HPE.)

2. Online. If you were receiving your payroll info online:

1. Go to W2 Services at https://w2.adp.com

2. Enter the User ID you created when you registered. (Be sure to end it with "@HPQ" or "@HPE") If ex-HPE, also try @HPQ with your User ID.

3. Enter the password you created when you registered. (Note that the ADP site is case-sensitive for both user ID and password.) If you have forgotten the password, you can answer the password recovery questions (if you had set them up) -- or you can have ADP send a password recovery email to the address on the account.

4. Once you have gained access to your payroll account, check the password recovery questions and check that the email address on the account will reach you in the future. Otherwise, you may not be able to recover account access for future W‑2s.

5. Print out the pdf files.

If you have forgotten your password you will need to supply the email address used to register. A link will be provided allowing you to change your password.

(This is another example of why members suggest that you move any personal business from your employer's email system to a personal email account. Why and how: https://www.hpalumni.org/PersBus )

3. If difficulty. Contact corporate admin headquarters:

HP Inc headquarters  Admin functions -- including HR, Benefits, and Payroll -- 10300 Energy Drive, Spring, TX 77389. 1-650-857-1501. Legal headquarters -- Page Mill Road in Palo Alto, not Hanover Street as in old documents. (At a Post Office window, you can specify Certified Mail combined with Return Receipt.)

HPE headquarters 1701 E Mossy Oaks Rd, Spring, TX 77389. 1-678-259-9860. (At a Post Office window, you can specify Certified Mail combined with Return Receipt.)
