Correction: RRA subsidy without purchasing from AlightRHS. When finished with this page, go back to Enrollment Menu Based on reports from HP Alumni Association members who have completed enrollment. Retracting the Dec 2 post "RRA subsidy without purchasing from AlightRHS." Some members have discovered that people with an HPInc RRA (Retiree Reimbursement Account) appear to be able to file reimbursement claims directly via the Benefits Center website. This could be a workaround for the very limited choice of plans offered by AlightRHS in some areas -- which is partly due to HPInc's former group plan insurer, UHC, dropping Advantage plans in "rural" counties in Idaho, Oregon, and Colorado. However, members who looked into this received conflicting information from the Benefits Center, AlightRHS, and HP Corporate. (AlightWorklife, which runs the Benefits Center, and AlightRHS are related companies with separate systems, locations, and personnel.) We currently testing the process with an actual claim. My apologies for announcing this prematurely. Action. Deadline extended if losing your health plan (because HPInc or HPE dropped your group plan -- or because your current insurer in no longer offering plans in your county) you have another week or two after the Dec 7 national policy-change deadline to buy a plan for 2026. Buy your new policy well before Dec 31 to avoid having a gap in coverage due to delays or errors. If you join a new plan after Dec 31, coverage in the new plan won't start until the month after you join. (As stated in the notice from your current insurer.) If you are converting from an HPInc or HPE private group Medicare plan to an individual plan, you have a one-time opportunity to change your Medicare strategy. Depending on your financial and health situation, your preference for your current doctors and medical system, and your personal tolerance for risk, you may want to take advantage of this one-time opportunity to move from your current Advantage group coverage to a Medigap plan -- without the normally-required "medical underwriting." evaluation of your current health. https://www.hpalumni.org/enroll-advantage-medigap You can use the RRA subsidy only to buy other plans from AlightRHS -- such as Medicare Part D drug -- or non-Medicare drug, dental and/or vision plans. (The HPInc RRA does not cover hearing plans.) (Any unused money is carried over from year to year.) Many ways to buy health policies aside from AlightRHS. Some can be bought online. Directly from an insurer (such as Mutual of Omaha or Regence) or from a health system (such as Kaiser or Harvard Pilgrim) or from a local independent agent (who may be more familiar with what works best in your area and be more skillful in constructing plan applications that get approved.) To see all Advantage, Medigap, and Drug plans available in your county from any source -- go to the official US Government site and enter your ZIP code and county. Notes: Some are small local or regional plans. The plan names indicate that some are for veterans or other specific groups. Some plans only sell direct or through a single agency. https://www.medicare.gov/plan-compare (Non-Medicare: https://www.healthcare.gov ) Some have elected to forgo the reimbursements -- which may cover only a small portion of their healthcare costs. Related issue: In researching this, the team found accounts where automatic reimbursements for some policies bought from AlightRHS stopped working in 2025 -- despite an available RRA balance and no change from 2024 in the member's insurance or direct deposit information. If you have a balance in your RRA, check your bank account to be sure you are getting reimbursements. Reimbursements show as "YSA" -- an AlightWorklife service called "Your Spending Account." On your Benefits Center account, click "Reimbursement Accounts" in the top row. https://www.myhpbenefits.com Details. Neither the FAQ on retiree.alight.com (RRA Screenshot #1) nor the "Eligible Expenses" screen say anything about where you must purchase the plans in order to be reimbursed. (RRA Screenshot #2) To test this, we found a member who has an RRA account with an available balance. Entered a claim for a premium payment that was made earlier this year but not reimbursed. It has been reimbursed. (Any unused money is carried over from year to year.) Related pages on the HPAlumni website: - UHC dropping plans.
