Effective November 1, 2015, the Hewlett-Packard Company was renamed HPInc. and a new, independent company -- Hewlett Packard Enterprise (no hyphen; singular) -- was spun out. Portions of HPE were later spun out into DXC and Micro Focus. Portions of DXC and Micro Focus have since been spun out. Details: HP Breakup
First step: Which HP-related companies am I a retiree or former employee of? HPInc or Hewlett Packard Enterprise? Given HP's complex history of acquisitions, divestitures, and spinoffs, the company that you are legally a former employee of may not be obvious. Before contacting one of the HP-related companies, check here: Which Company for links to official and unofficial contact information for each company.
Make sure that every company you ever worked for has your current postal address. Even if not classified by the company as a "Retiree" or if long gone from the company -- in case of class-action settlements or pension issues. The company will only update payroll records. It is your responsibility to notify the Benefits Center, Fidelity, etc. -- and watch your subsequent paperwork to verify that changes have actually been made in every database. Update address at former company

Stock Records: With any employer, no one but you really cares about your employment-related stock. Due to the HP Breakup, you may have stock in up to seven HP-related companies. It may not all be held in the same place. With each spinoff, the cost basis for your shares changed. Many find stray accounts -- or need to retrieve stock or dividends turned over to a state as "unclaimed." You could pay taxes twice on the same income. Your heirs may not find it all. An HP Alumni team developed a step-by-step process to find it, protect it, and help you avoid double taxation. Go to https://www.hpalumni.org/stock
